Prut is the left tributary of the Danube, flowing in south-eastern Europe. Length in Ukraine - 272 km (169 mi). Originates on the Hoverla Mountain (territory of Ivano-Frankivsk region), flows into the Danube in Moldova.
In the upper half Prut is mountain-like river, with rapid and abrupt right bank. On the area from Vorokhta to Yaremche (about 30 km or 19 mi) there are different rapids. In Yaremche, on the right bank of the river, Yaremchansky Canyon begins (about 2 km or 1.2 mi), ending with cascade waterfall Probiy.
There are Costești-Stynka reservoir and Snyatynska water power plant on the Prut river.
