Kara Dag is a volcanic rock formation in the Crimean Mountains, which rises to a height of 576 meters or 1,890 ft (Mount Svyata). Ancient extinct volcano, the only one in Eastern Europe. The name comes from the Crimean Qara dağ, which means “black mountain”.
Located in Kara Dag Nature Reserve, which includes the mountain group and adjoining marine waters.
Significant temperature fluctuations are regular in winter (for example, during several days in January the temperature can vary from -15° C to +15° C). The most precipitated months are June-July and November-December.
