Yalpuh is the largest natural lake in Ukraine. Belongs to the Ukrainian Danube lakes located in the delta of the Danube, in the border with Romania (Odessa region). It is 39 km (24 mi) long and up to 15 km (9 mi) wide, it covers an area of 149 sq. km (58 sq. mi).
The eastern and western shores are mostly high, dissected by ravines, southern shore is sandy, northern one is swampy.
In winter the lake is frozen, but ice is unstable. The water temperature in summer goes up to +25° C.
